Norwegian River Strategy against the Pink Salmon (English)

The Norwegian Salmon Association and the Norwegian government have held many meetings to discuss the 2023 season since the last large run of pink salmon in Norwey two years ago.
In the 2021 season, more than 260 000 pink salmon were caught in Norwegian rivers. Most of them far north, but also some in all salmon rivers in Norway.
Scientists expect ten times more pink salmon to enter Norwegian rivers in 2023 and have developed a strategy to cope with the expected revenue from pink salmon in Norway.

Cormorant Conservation in Europe - Opportunities and Challenges for our Native Fish Species (German)

Cormorants are covered by Council Directive 79/409/EEC of 2 April 1979 on the conservation of wild birds and are thus protected at European level.
The disputes between bird conservation and fish species conservation have basically left only losers to date.
New scientific studies paint a frightening picture and leave almost no doubt about the negative impact of the cormorant on European fish stocks as a whole. Where do we go from here? The lecture offers an orientation on current studies, basic information and possible environmental policy options for action in the future.

Olaf Lindner, German Angling Association (DAFV)

Fishing in Iceland (English) Þröstur Elliðason, Strengir Angling
