I started running as a way to relieve stress. I now run to guide athletes with disabilities, who serve as an inspiration to continue my healthy lifestyle.

Eventually, someone from the group suggested we should train for a marathon, ADIDAS NMD_R1 J S42838 SNEAKER KINDER DAMEN WEIß.

We started by using a run/walk method. We ran for five minutes and walked for one minute and built up from there. It was very hard for me at first, because I always thought you had to be in shape to run and I was overweight. But I did it!

After I had successfully finished my first 26.2, I decided that I wanted to challenge myself to something harder, and I decided on a triathlon. One of my friends told me I was crazy for trying to complete this multi-sport race, because I was overweight. But, I took on the challenge—and it was definitely a challenge, considering I first needed to learn how to swim.

After taking swimming lessons, I eventually completed a sprint and half Ironman triathlon.

Then, in May 2016, I signed up to compete in a full Ironman in Texas. That means I would need to swim more than two miles, bike more than 100 miles, and run a marathon. Unfortunately, I failed to complete the swim portion as I had a panic attack.

After that my self-esteem was pretty low. I had just wasted more than $900 on a race that I failed to complete. So, I was determined to finish an Ironman 140.6 and enrolled once more for the April 2017 race.

On my second attempt, I made it to the finish line of the full Ironman, where my mother was waiting for me. That year I had also lost 40 pounds, mostly because I changed my eating habits Alphacross Blast Trail Running Shoes portion sizes. Uno heeled sandals, vegetables, and fruits.

After 2017, my running goals changed. I started guiding athletes with disabilities. I have always believed in helping others, especially those who do not have the means to accomplish their goals, as I grew up in extreme poverty in San Miguel, El Salvador. I also saw a need to help make the sport of running more diverse.

I started noticing various organizations whose mission was to assist athletes with disabilities. I found Bee Abled, a nonprofit organization in Houston that I volunteer with and now serve on the board. The organization is dear to my heart because it is run by my best friend, Gloria Suarez, a single Latina mother, who is paralyzed and is using her journey to also help other athletes. In 2019, I guided Gloria, who is in a wheelchair, in the New York City Marathon.

Guiding athletes makes me feel great because I am able to help others accomplish their goals in a sport that I love. I also love the work of Calvin Klein Jeans Solaris Sneakers in witte mix.

In 2022 and 2023, I was able to help my friend, Harsh, qualify to run the Boston Marathon under the visually impaired category. It was such an amazing experience, which was enhanced by the large volume of spectators from El Salvador between miles eight and 10 cheering us on. I will also remember Harsh’s mom’s face at each designated point, as she waited for us at different spots on the course. She was so happy to see her son run Boston.

Both experiences are dear to my heart, because I love the people from El Salvador and also the athletes, like Harsh, who keep me motivated to run more.

During the 2023 Boston Marathon, I also changed into different Raya throughout the race, which represented something very meaningful to me. During miles one to eight, I ran with an El Salvador soccer jersey. It turned out to be a great idea, because of the large volume of spectators from El Salvador cheering for Harsh and me.

For miles eight to 20, I ran with a Bee Abled t-shirt. And during the final six miles, I ran with the shirt representing a running group in San Miguel, El Salvador, Orient Runners, Dune wide fit side stripe sneakers in white leather.

Today I run between 40 to 50 miles each week and most of them are with Harsh. We have run 22 marathons together. I hope to finish the World Marathon Majors Moncler White Sneaker For Babykids With Logo.

I also plan to continue to assist health and wellness initiatives in El Salvador through my nonprofit, Friends of El Salvador, that I started after I completed my Ph.D. in nomad planning and environmental policy in December 2022. Since 2009, I have been delivering toys during the Christmas holidays to 12 villages in El Salvador. We also give away food baskets, and treat children to the movies. The mission has sustained itself through support from family, friends, and local churches.

Running evolved from my own accomplishment to now helping others accomplish their goals. I like to say that the reason why I still run is because I found a sense of purpose beyond my personal accomplishments.

These three tips have made my running journey a success:

1. Be patient

Running can become very expensive if you don’t have proper guidance. I spent a lot of money on running products because I was sold things that I should not have bought. Yet, I kept running and found some really amazing people who also helped me understand the types of shoes and clothing I should wear.

3. Enjoy the highs and lows
