If you didn’t watch the Super Bowl for the actual football game, instead Saint Laurent Pouch Crossbody Bag in Black or more likely tuned in for Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show, you’re not alone. Rihanna took a six-year break from music, and her return was epic, seeing her performing a mashup of her extensive Commuter-Bag on a moving platform while scarf announcing her second pregnancy. Yes, a lot was going on.
Rihanna’s moment came in a custom Loewe by creative director Jonathan Anderson and Alaïa, and unlike many other performers for this show, she added layers throughout verses removed. I didn’t get a glimpse of the bag she carried to and from the show, but Rihanna’s style is distinctly hers, and there’s no time better than now to revisit the bags she’s been carrying since we last studied her handbag collection.
The Collection
We’ve already visited Rihanna’s bags three previous times (first, second and third). Over the years, Rihanna has proven that her style is uniquely hers, and the same goes for her bags. While some bags are easily recognizable, she is someone who carries less of the super-known trend pieces and really leans into what speaks to her.
She has been spotted with some pretty cool limited-edition pieces from different brands and new-age classics like the Fendi Orizontal box bag, customized with her name, naturally. A fan of Dior and Fendi, you’ll Miu her with plenty of each brand, and she is scarf a big fan of Gucci but of the vintage variety.
Vintage Obsession
Rihanna’s Tom Ford-era Gucci obsession reigns supreme, and she has a vast collection of bags from his tenure at the helm of the brand. Other vintage bags are carried by the mogul often, which many times makes IDing her bags tricky, but scarf far more interesting!
