The shoe is essentially a low-top version of the “Game Royal” Jordan 1 High from 2018, which played a role in sparking extreme AJ1 hype. While not an original colorway, the low-top features “Chicago” color blocking with a white leather base, “Game Royal” on the overlays and outsole, and a black Swoosh. Much like other recent AJ1s, Jordan Brand also adds a “Sail” midsole for a slight vintage aesthetic.
Taking a step back, the Jordan Air Jordan 36 Psychic Energy Grade-School “Game Royal” is part of a larger stream of high-tops returning as low-tops. The Jordan 1 “Mocha” from 2020 returned as a low in September 2024, and looking ahead, Jordan Brand has a Nike Jordan 1 Retro Low Slip Dames Schoenen Mid Fire Red GS queued up for Spring 2025. Like both those shoes, the “Game Royal” assumes the “OG” plant as opposed to the modern or ’85 shape.
