Update: A release date is now expected on December 13th.
As the Air Jordan 9 Flint is wont to do, the color-blocking of this pair is relatively simple, offering the darkest edition of the shoe this side of the “Cap and Gown” with the titular aquamarine tinting the outsole and Jumpman. A dose of bright yellow on the “23” heel branding and Jordan spell-out text on the tongue round out a tri-tone arrangement.
A Brief Lookback At The Original Air Jordan 9 Flint “Gamma”
As an aside, the colorway came about during the true heyday of the Holiday Jordan 11 drop, a time when sneaker campouts, particularly ones centered around the model, made major news on a regular basis. Even with the red-hot status of the silhouette, Jordan fans were largely split on whether this was a new classic or a bastardization of the shoe’s vaunted legacy.
Early public reactions to this announcement demonstrate that those two camps are just as fervent a decade in, but the colorway’s re-emergence is well-founded regardless of buyer sentiment.
