Luxury fashion houses once scoffed at sneaker brands. Now, they’re important partners. Adding to a growing list of high-fashion crossovers that includes Louis Vuitton x Nike, Valentino x Vans, and Gucci x adidas is a new footwear collection by Onitsuka Tiger and Italian luxury house Versace, unveiled as part of Versace’s Spring/Summer 2026 runway show.
Onitsuka Tiger has been riding a wave of success thanks to the ongoing slim-sneaker trend — a movement the brand has both fueled and benefited from, namely through the enduring popularity of the Mexico 66 (the yellow-and-black “Kill Bill” colorway remains nearly inescapable in New York). Given how increasingly blurred the line between streetwear and high fashion has become, the brand’s link-up with Versace feels like a natural next step.
Versace’s runway show featured two models: the TAI-CHI (which, for most, is nearly indistinguishable from the Mexico 66) and a loafer silhouette. The entire collection is crafted at Versace’s factory in Italy and utilizes premium, locally sourced materials. Key details include metal studs featuring Versace’s Medusa emblem and buffed uppers that achieve a vintage texture.
The Onitsuka Tiger x Versace collection is currently set to release Spring 2026, meaning sometime between next January and March. We’ll circle back with firm release and pricing info once available.
