Today, I do most of my running solo although I’ve been part of a running club, Central Park Track Club, since 2012. I do track workouts and tempo runs with the club. My preferred workouts, that I really enjoy, are ladder workouts on the track. Those workouts are very challenging for me, and while I struggle going to the track mentally because I know they’re super hard, I know the only way to improve in running is getting through tough workouts.

(I missed running the NYC marathon in 2012 and 2013 because of those fractures.) Since then, I have listened to the expert’s advice and also pay attention to how my body feels.

Throughout my training, I will often think about the day of the race to help keep me going, focused, and pushing myself to train hard and to get to that day healthy and prepared.

The marathon day is like going to a party—it’s one of the most special days of the year for me. I love being out there with runners and running the whole race with the crowd’s support.

It’s also very important to me to have the support of my family as it makes the training more manageable. I train to run to hit a specific time. I ran my best time of 2:40:09 in 2011 in New York City, and now I am aiming to go sub 2:40 this year.
