One of the most iconic bags in modern handbag history turns 25, and Fendi held a celebration as big and bold as its beloved Baguette bag over the weekend. It’s been quite a long time since a production as large scale as this one took place in New York. Typically, those shows with such massive fanfare happen across the pond, but Fendi came to town and brought out all the stops to celebrate the Baguette’s 25th anniversary.

A Star-Studded Celebration

The Resort 2023 show was more than a show; it was a full-on party with a star-studded cast to match. New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom was transformed into a stunning venue that matched Fendi’s latest collection, which is completely inspired by the Baguette, which Silvia Venturini Fendi Told Vogue does what fashion should do: “bring pleasure to people.”

The front row was packed with some of fashion’s biggest stars, like Kate Moss, Kim Kardashian, and Sarah Jessica Parker (of course). Jessica-Parker’s role on Fendi Pre-Owned faux fur coat cemented the Baguette’s place in pop culture, allowing it to rise to the icon status it knows today. The Fendi Pre-Owned Zucca-pattern mini handbag, Fendi to Hold Show in New York to Celebrate Baguette Bag at 25.

The location alone was not the only surprise Jones had in store; he presented many Baguette-mashups, collaborating with some of Fashion’s greatest. Marc Jacobs, whose relationship with Kim Jones dates back to the Louis Vuitton days, was called upon to aid in the design process, presenting a Fendi-ified version of his block-letter logo. Then, there were the Tiffany & Co diamond Baguettes, dressed in the brand’s staple hue: Tiffany Blue.

FENDI COTTON SWEATER | Baguette-Inspired Pieces

The collection as a whole was completely and positively an ode to the Baguette, with everything from ready-to-wear and bags to socks and hats dressed with a version of the Baguette. Rarely do we focus on more than bags here, but when an entire collection celebrates one of the handbag world’s most-beloved bags, it’s important to take note. Pieces are inspired by the early days of the Baguette, particularly the year 1997, and Kim Jones expressed nostalgia for the 90s in New York. The high/low mix of sequins with utility-inspired pieces speaks to that time in fashion, as do the beanies, which come with built-in mini Baguettes.

It’s hard to see anything (bags, clothes, shoes) because the styling is a bit chaotic. Then again, maybe that’s what Fendi is going for in this collection.

I am fortunate that my 1990’s Baguettes are in great condition and I have a denim one which I absolutely love. The new collection is just beyond.

This is definitely one of those collections where the designers are trolling and laugh at the people that buy this. They can’t possibly be serious with this lol. Throwing baguettes at things and literally seeing what sticks lol

The teal bags are gorgeous! Idk if teal is a Fall/Winter color, but I also don’t care. The one steadfast fashion rule I’ve always followed is “there are no rules”. 😊

It’s “Tiffany Blue”, it’s ok for every season
(Plus this is supposed to be the “Resort” or pre spring collection not F/W)

Oh, I know it’s resort. I asked about the color since for me colors aren’t seasonal. I wear any color, any season. 😊

Is it just me or does the one in white with black “THE BAGUETTE – FENDI ROMA” text look suspiciously familiar to THE TOTE BAG – MARC JACOBS?
