I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a Dior devotee (I haven’t purchased a Dior bag in about 14 years), but Dior, to me, has always been iconic, and thus its bags are always on my radar. Recently I considered purchasing a belt bag by another designer because it converted to a chain wallet, and that got me thinking about other similar bags that I may want. Normally when I’m buying a bag, I tend to go for small sizes that are great for day-to-night use, so my bag collection doesn’t really have anything that is super fancy or that I would only use at night. As I get older, I’ve begun to attend more events that require a bit of a dressier handbag, which brings me to my latest crush: The Diorama Wallet On Chain Bag.
Though I could probably get away with using this bag during the day if I wanted to, I would mostly wear this out at night. It’s the perfect bag for a girls night out—it would look fabulous paired with jeans and a dressy top, but you could also make this bag work for fancier events as an accent to your favorite LBD. I simply adore this little red square version, and I want so badly to make it mine! The shape is sleek and streamlined, while the studs add a bit of an edge without being too overly trendy—they are smaller and more delicate.
The chain strap is also incredibly dainty, and I adore that it’s not bulky. It’s very lightweight and also features a leather shoulder panel with studded detailing. The chain strap is completely removable, so this little bag can also be carried as a clutch, and it’s the perfect size to work both ways. Made from soft and luxurious calfskin, this little clutch has a really nice feel to it, though it does scratch easily. The overall craftsmanship and quality of this bag shows in the details, including a full suede lining. A snap closure keeps the flap secure, and inside, there are two card slots. The red Diorama is what originally caught my attention, but I must admit was all eyes when Dior also sent us a sample of a metallic rectangular version of the Diorama Wallet-On-Chain. Because the smooth calfskin on this mini-bag is all-over metallic I like that this bag doesn’t have studs like the little lady lady above. It’s dressy, but in a bit more understated of a way and you really can’t go wrong with metallics for a night out look. I love the way a metallic bag stands out against an all-black look, which I so often am wearing, especially at night, so this version of the Diorama would be a great addition to my wardrobe as well, though a part of me is still super-drawn to the studded version above. The metallic version differs not only in shape as it’s more rectangular, but in size as well. It can hold a bit more as it has 4 card slots versus 2 as well as 3 separate areas for storage. In the front there is a thin slit pocket, followed by a zippered pocket which separates the main storage area.
