Pastel purple covers the lower heel’s wraparound panel (celebrating up of mismatched materials), while ASICS‘ tried-and-proven tooling solution underfoot opts for an “aged” aesthetic. The aforementioned sidewall logos boast a “wear away” finish that allow for unique textures to develop as the shoes are worn (a stitched-on version still exists on the medial side). A callback to Wabi-Sabi appears between both shoes’ spines, as well as on the cork insoles. Akin to their previous joint-efforts, AFEW and ASICS’ commitment to quality extends onto the leather heel mold, a first for the split-tongued silhouette.
