The start of the new decade has provided NIKE, Inc. with a clean slate to finally deliver some of the innovative footwear projects they had been working on for years. Yet, 2020 has also been full of both long-anticipated and surprising retros of some of the North American brand’s most beloved silhouettes from past decades. The cross trainer category quickly comes to mind, and soon its WMNS AIR MAX SCORPION FK will release in a far-from-original “Abalone” arrangement complete with iridescent detailing mirroring the natural colors of the shells.
Perforated leather sets the stage for smooth panels throughout the remainder of the upper. Thin overlays on the lateral forefoot introduce a pastel green tone into the mix, which also animates the textile strips on the sides, the molded lace guards they connect to and the top-most eyestays. “NIKE” branding on the heel, lining on the tongue and most tooling underfoot further indulge in the minty hue; outsoles boast a semi-translucent finish that delivers some welcomed character to the tall model. The swoosh on the lateral side, however, arguably steals the spotlight as it Trey an iridescent, quasi-oil like composition that demands attention away from the soft palette surrounding it.
An official Nike.com release date is unknown, but this pair is likely to launch in early 2021. In any case, enjoy a closer look at the shoes here below.
