From Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter, HYKE and adidas have made a clear and evident leap, growing their product breadth near tenfold with apparel and footwear aplenty. And even despite the dramatic increase in releases, the design language has visibly remained the same, an evolved iteration of the hiking influences that were first introduced almost half a year ago. Next to repurposed outdoors gear and mountain parkas, the duo are debuting a 12-piece range that provides three colorways each to the FYW XTA FL, the XTA Sandal, the SEEULATER GTX, and the SEEULATER GTX Hi.
Though grounded in the same tooling, the FYW XTA FL and its sandal counterpart are far distinct in utility. The former, which appears more visually robust, layers different tones of mesh underneath an overlaid arrangement of leathers. The lace unit, in ostensible nod to climbing, then adds atop the patented BOA lacing system that adjusts the entire shoe through one single dial. By comparison, the sandal is more breathable, open along much of the midfoot; and while it lacks in the way of waterproofing, the pair adds on magnetic Fidlock buckles for convenience and removable fur inserts.
Designed in the same way more or less, the SEEULATER in both its heights provides a trail-ready complement to the aforementioned. Pronounced, hike-ready soles build underfoot, visually contrasting that the of sleek upper whose synthetic leather and textile composition benefits from the ever-resistant GORE-TEX fabrication. Straps, while not quite as advanced as the Fidlock used prior, easily fastens across the tongue in place of laces, locking down the foot in tandem with the elastic that secures the ankle.
