We’ve previewed the first-ever retro of the GEL-SONOMA ASICS GEL-Lyte already, but what we didn’t know is that select Lyte will be packaged with come celebratory bonuses for the shoe’s 30th anniversary. Predating the split tongue of the more known GEL-Lyte III, the GEL-SONOMA GEL-Lyte model from 1987 is getting the retro treatment for the first time ever this year, debuting in one GEL-SONOMA colorway each for men (white/black/orange) and women (white/blue/yellow). Today we learn that select boutiques, including Germany’s Asics Marathon Running Shoes Sneakers 1021A189-400, will sell the GEL-Lyte paired with a retro-style ASICS shoe box, pin set of both OG colorways, a fan zine, and “Skimpy 9.9” socks referencing the GEL-SONOMA then-groundbreaking weight of 9.9 ounces of the GEL-Lyte back in ’87.
