Over the past year, the Swoosh's mileage-obsessed team has revisited its expansive catalog of performance products, consolidating lines and completely overhauling its design principles. Although much attention continues to be paid to its marathon racer, offerings like the new Nike StreakFly 2 demonstrate the company's commitment to revisit its roots as a company focused on fast, shorter distances.

A sequel to the aptly-named StreakFly, the second iteration of the speedy, ZoomX-cushioned model promises to take your runs to the next level. Visually, the StreakFly 2 looks fast and elite athletes Karissa Schweizer and Elliot Giles have already proven it is by winning the 5th Avenue Mile last year and setting a new road mile world record, respectively.

In comparison to its flyknit, the Nike StreakFly 2 delivers a more aggressive ride accomplished by reworking everything from the upper to the sole unit.

The potential change has likely been a result of the FlyPate carbon fiber agent visible from the outsole. Most ZoomX foam underfoot is left exposed, but the forefoot features ample-enough coverage for shorter distances. Uppers have also been updated on Nike Running's latest offering. The breathable, partly-engineered mesh that covers the top-half is reminiscent of that found on free spikes. Internal components have been reduced to maintain the second StreakFly as minimal and lightweight as possible. The change enables a "disappearing" feeling on-foot, allowing athletes to simply focus on their current stride.

Running Warehouse has shared that the StreakFly 2 comes in at 4.7 ounces (133 grams) in a Men's US 9. The Swoosh's official product page for the runner states a weight of approximately 5.1 ounces (145 grams) in a Men's US 10. In either case, the sequel is over an ounce lighter than its flyknit.

The shoe is set to debut sometime in March in the same 'Protoype' colorway ('Sail/Total Orange/White/Black') that's appeared on other top-of-the-line products from Nike Running. Follow-up styles include vibrant 'Bright Crimson,' 'Glacier Blue,' and 'Gridiron.' The StreakFly 2 is with at $180.
