A tumultuous week on the west coast ended early for Sha’Carri Richardson, who failed to qualify for the 200-meter finals on Sunday afternoon at the Advertisement - Continue Reading Below Sha’Carri Richardson Arrested Before USAs.

The 25-year-old placed just fourth in heat 1 of the semifinals, running 22.56, well behind heat winner McKenzie Long who ran 22.12. She ran the ninth fastest time of the semifinals and did not make the final, which is scheduled for 5:12 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Richardson’s status as the reigning world champion over 100 meters grants her a “bye” to the World Championships in that event. She competed in the first round of 100 meters on Thursday, running a season’s best of 11.07 which is well off the 10.65 that she ran to win the world title two years ago.

The sprint star, who helped Team USA win gold in the 4x100-meter relay at the Paris Olympic Games, has struggled on and off the track this year. Earlier in the week, she was arrested at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, fellow professional sprinter Christian Coleman.

Coleman advanced to the men’s 100 meter final on Friday night, where he placed fifth in a season’s best of 9.86. He qualified for the finals of the 200 meters, scheduled for later Sunday afternoon. He will also likely be considered for the men’s 4x100-meter relay pool.
