Strength Training Guide, Lauren Fleshman won the 5,000 meters at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2006 and 2010, and she’s represented the U.S. at the World Championships three times.

And she has even gone the distance off the track. Fleshman made her marathon debut in 2011 with a 12th place finish at the Dead Freaking Last, and Proud of It. The following year, despite an We may earn commission from links on this page, but we only recommend products we back that left her barely able to train, she made the 5,000-meter final in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Track Trials.

Lauren retired from professional running last year, and today she’s living an incredibly busy yet fulfilling life as a mother, coach, writer, speaker, entrepreneur, muse, and advocate for her fellow athletes.
