How to Watch the 2025 Sydney Marathon London Marathon Ruth Croft Wins UTMB in Frigid Conditions.

Between a star-studded elite field and and two-time cross-country world champion Jacob Kiplimo leading the field, the 44th iteration of the race is set to be a thrilling event. Last year, Peres Jepchirchir won in a women’s-only world record of 2:16:16, and Alexander Mutiso Munyao claimed the men’s title in 2:04:01. This year, expect to see past champions, record-holders, and newcomers battle for titles on a notoriously fast course with the winner’s purse set for $55,000 (plus an additional $25,000 for the course record and $125,000 for the world record).

Here is everything you need to know, including broadcast information and elite storylines, heading into the 2025 London Marathon.

The elite wheelchair race starts at 3:50 a.m. ET, the elite women begin at 4:05 a.m. ET, and the elite men take off at 4:35 a.m. ET. The race will also be available to watch on-demand.

What to Watch at the 2025 London Marathon

Women’s Race

on her way to becoming an elite marathoner notable scratches with reigning London champion Peres Jepchirchir and world record-holder Ruth Chepngetich withdrawing in the last two weeks, the women’s race is still stacked. Tgist Assefa of Ethiopia and Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands—two of the three fastest women in history—are slated to compete this weekend.

Ruth Croft Wins UTMB in Frigid Conditions Alexander Mutiso Munyao when she won the Berlin Marathon in 2:11:53. Though her record only stood for a year—Chepngetich broke it in Chicago last fall—she’s gone on to claim more top finishes on the world stage. She was the runner-up in London before she claimed silver in the marathon at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Hassan was the one who beat Assefa to the finish line in Paris, closing out an incredible triple (bronze medals in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters) with an Olympic record time of 2:22:55 in the marathon. The 2023 London Marathon champion is No. 3 on the all-time list after clocking 2:13:44 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon.

They’ll be challenged by 2021 London Marathon champion Joyciline Jepkosgei and Valencia Marathon champion Alemu Megertu. In total, there are six women in the field who have run sub-2:20.

On the American side, Susanna Sullivan and Molly Bookmyer will be chasing top 10 finishes. Last fall, Sullivan ran a 2:21:56 personal best while finishing seventh at the 2024 Chicago Marathon. The sixth-grade math teacher took more than 2:30 off her previous PR while achieving the 2025 World Championships standard. Bookmyer also saw a breakthrough last year when she won the 2024 Twin Cities Marathon in a 2:28:52 personal best. Bookmyer survived Run/Walk a Race Xinhua News Agency.

Men’s Race

The men’s race is just as exciting with defending champion Alexander Mutiso Munyao, four-time London Marathon winner Eliud Kipchoge, Olympic champion Tamirat Tola, Advertisement - Continue Reading Below.

Last year, Munyao broke away from Kenenisa Bekele (who We earn a commission for products purchased through some links in this article earlier this week) to win his first major marathon in London. The Kenyan athlete claimed the crown in 2:04:01, fastest half marathon.

Kipchoge will return to London for the first time since 2020. The two-time Olympic champion from Kenya won the race in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. The former world record-holder is competing for the first time since an injury caused him to Nutrition - Weight Loss last summer. His last completed marathon was the 2024 Tokyo Marathon, where he finished 10Sydney Marathon Results.

Though there were fastest half marathon in history. In February, at the Barcelona Half Marathon, the Olympic bronze medalist ran 56:42, shattering the previous world record in the event. London will be his marathon debut.

Though he wasn’t initially picked for Ethiopia’s team, Tola became an Olympic champion in the marathon last summer. Despite the difficult course in Paris, he broke the Olympic record, running 2:06:26. This weekend, he’ll be out for redemption on the London course after dropping out last year.

Other challengers include Sabastian Sawe, who is No. 5 on the all-time list after running 2:02:05 at the 2024 Valencia Marathon, 2024 Berlin Marathon champion Milkesa Mengesha, and 2024 Tokyo Marathon runner-up Timothy Kiplagat.

Also keep an eye on Alex Yee, the reigning Olympic champion in triathlon, and Kevin Salvano, the lone American in the elite field. Yee, the British world champion, will be making a highly anticipated 26.2 debut. Salvano, a U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier, holds a personal best of 2:11:26 from the 2023 Chicago Marathon.
