This year I will be toeing the line in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, on Patriot’s Day to run my 14th Boston Marathon (13th consecutive). The marathon is the oldest in the world and one that’s truly been an honor to race in for over a decade. Despite the unpredictable weather Des Linden Places 17th in Final Boston.
Racing this course so many times, certain parts stick out, filling me with excitement—and, at times, dread—as I make my way back to the city with hoards of runners. As a former Boston resident, there are places I love to visit when I drop in town, and foods I can’t wait to eat. Amanda Furrer, Runner’s World test editor, studied journalism at NYU and writing at Emerson College. She has reviewed gear and covered other topics in the running space for almost 10 years. Since 2013, she has consecutively run the Boston Marathon.
