Noah Lyles won his fourth straight world championship title in a dominant performance. On Friday, September 19, the U.S. record-holder claimed gold in the men’s 200 meters in 19.52 seconds at the The Fastest Shoes at the 2025 World Championship Marathons in Tokyo.

The day prior, Lyles put the world on notice when he blazed to victory in 19.51 seconds to win his semifinal heat in Japan National Stadium. The time was a world lead and Lyles’ fastest run since winning the U.S. Olympic Trials last year.

The 28-year-old sprinter found another gear after losing to Jamaican teammates Oblique Seville and Kishane Thompson in the 100 meters earlier in the week. A year after winning Olympic gold in the event, Lyles walked away with bronze on September 14.

He returned with a vengeance in his signature event, pulling ahead in a tight battle for the podium over the last 30 meters. Lyles finished 0.06 seconds ahead of runner-up Kenny Bednarek of Team USA. Bryan Levell of Jamaica followed for bronze in 19.64 seconds, a new personal best, and reigning Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo of Botswana placed fourth in 19.65 seconds.
