Mo Farah gets his curtain call

One of the most famous sportsmen in Britain is getting an appropriately patriotic sendoff on Sunday. Sir Mo Farah will line up as a professional for the last time this weekend at one of the country’s largest races. After a decorated career that includes four Olympic gold medals in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters, Farah will look to end on a high note. He’ll face stiff competition, however, from the former world record holder in the half marathon, Geoffrey Kamworor, as well as two-time 5,000-meter world champion Muktar Edris of Ethiopia.

Lokedi and Jepchirchir set to duke it out

The reigning Olympic champion in the marathon, Peres Jepchirchir, headlines the women’s elite field. The Kenyan, like Kamworor, is the former world record holder in the half marathon, and she’s lining up at a race for the first time since the London Marathon Best Recovery Shoes Sharon Lokedi—who trains in the U.S.—will look to spoil the party. Lokedi won the New York City Marathon last year in her debut at the distance, although she hasn’t raced since. Whoever comes up short on Sunday will have a chance at a rematch later this fall: both women are entered in the 2023 New York City Marathon on November 5.
