The cover’s pinwheel-like design symbolizes that, in order to achieve his level of success, there’s only one person Kipchoge is constantly chasing: himself.
The new issue—on sale at newsstands on May 2—has five feature stories about Kipchoge’s life, including the secrets of his shoe of choice (the Nike Alphafly), the mind-blowing math behind his sub-two-hour marathon, and five lessons the world record holder has learned throughout his career (he hops on a stationary bike more than you might think).
In an interview with RW’s Dave Holmes, Kipchoge reveals his life’s mission once his running days are behind him:
“I will embark on mentoring the next generation, educating young people on many issues: on investment, on general life, on discipline, on what’s required as a human being. We are all human, but you need to be a real human being whereby we respect each other.”
In the meantime, Kipchoge has a message for the U.S. Boston Marathon Results:
“I want to tell all the people around us, please help me to make America a running country … If all of the 330 million citizens of America can run, then we will have a better country and a healthy country.”
