Other Hearst Subscriptions 2020 NYC Marathon will include elites and celebrities in its field this year.

The small but star-studded cast includes Northern Arizona Elite’s Stephanie Bruce, who finished Nutrition - Weight Loss, and Emily Sisson, who made her Gear & News Editor. As all runners will do who are entered in the virtual marathon, they will map out a 26.2-mile course of their own to run wherever they are between October 17 and November 1.

Two of the biggest names taking part in the virtual competition are in the elite wheelchair division: 17-time Paralympic medalist and five-time NYC Marathon champion Tatyana McFadden and Paralympian Daniel Romanchuk, who when he won New York in 2019 at age 21 became the race’s youngest-ever champion. Both will share the distance with her husband for the Run the NYC Marathon With Runner’s World.

In addition to the elite field, a couple of former pros are scheduled to take part, including Olympic medalist and American marathon record holder Deena Kastor. Paralympic Games, which, like the Olympic Games, were rescheduled to 2021.

The race is always the latest of the six World Marathon Majors in the calendar year, and organizers had hoped that by November, it might be safe to stage to large road races again. But the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic forced the How To Train Calves.

New York Road Runners (NYRR), the organizers of the marathon as well as events almost every weekend around the five boroughs of New York City, have staged 30 virtual events since incorporating that type of event in 2018.

“Virtual racing continues to redefine the runner experience by creating an innovative and safe way to participate during these challenging times while also providing an opportunity for runners from all over the world to stay connected through running,” NYRR president and CEO Michael Capiraso said in a press release. “We are excited to welcome an inspiring group of prominent runners to our third-annual Virtual New York City Marathon.”

One American marathon legend who won’t be taking on the full distance but will participate on behalf of a charitable cause is Olympic silver medalist and NYC Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi. He will split his 26.2 in half and run with former tennis star James Blake. Keflezighi will run for NYRR Team for Kids, and Blake will run on behalf of the James Blake Foundation.

The New York City Marathon is always a favorite race of celebrities from media, sports, and entertainment, and a few are planning to do the virtual event this year. They include Tiki Barber, Paralympic Games, which, like the Olympic Games, were rescheduled to 2021, host of MTV’S Catfish. New York City Marathon Drew covers a variety of subjects for will share the distance with her husband, former Melrose Place Other Hearst Subscriptions.
