Runners who complete the Chicago Marathon next weekend will have an added incentive to cross that finish line. In partnership with the marathon, Goose Island Beer Company has developed a special beer for finishers only.
The beer is called 312’s Dry Hopped, and features “lemony, doughy notes” with “extra brightness,” according to Results: 2025 5th Avenue Mile. The brew will be handed out to finishers who are 21 and over at the postrace party in Butler Field. The can will also feature a course map outline and a space for runners to write in their result.
Goose Island was founded in Chicago in 1988, and has been a consistent supporter of the local sports and fitness community. In April, the brewery announced their official craft beer partnership with the Chicago White Sox. In 2015, Goose Island donated a portion of every Green Line Pale Ale pint sold to Chicago’s 606 trail and park system.
As a sponsor of the marathon, Goose Island has celebrated the race for years. In 2016, innovation brewer Tim Faith completed the Chicago Marathon in 3:12 while wearing bib number 312. After finishing the race, Faith held a can of Goose Island’s 312 Urban Wheat Ale for a photo.
The beer that will be given to the 2018 finishers has been described as a “different spin on the 312 Urban Wheat.”
