As much as you may want to, none of us can run all the time. You need time for recovery, rest, and your hobbies outside of running—and for that, you need casual shoes that provide support and perhaps just as importantly, show off your keen fashion sense.
Saucony The Chicago Marathon Runner’s World What Is Marathon Fatigue elite racers to daily trainers. The company offers more than just athletic shoes and gear with this being the latest foray into the world of street fashion by collaborating with Bodega on a new pair of sneakers.
The Saucony X Bodega Grid Shadow 2 “Jaunt Woven” sneakers are a mix of the Bodega signature style with Saucony’s quality support and construction. The sneakers are made with a molded EVA midsole which provides solid cushioning and decent responsiveness for a streetwear shoe. This is paired with a recycled rubber gum bottom that offers grip and short lugs for stability on dirt or gravel.
The collaboration shows off more than just support and stability. The shoe was designed with a clear earthy aesthetic, mixing cotton, canvas, and hemp for a blend of natural textures. The different materials are shades of tan and black, giving way to a mix of earth tones that fit cleanly together. This color scheme is broken up with small splashes of lime green and clay red that add a bold contrast to the otherwise natural look.
This aesthetic extends to the Saucony logo as well, which is placed in its traditional spot on the shoe, but this time with a textured, brown design that reinforces the shoe’s theme. The sneakers also have rope-style laces that add more visual interest to the look without sacrificing lace strength. This accentuates the already outdoorsy eco-style of the shoes which are a great example of the growing gorpcore trend. Named after the trail mix nickname for “good old raisins and peanuts,” Gorpcore takes outdoor gear aesthetics and puts them together with streetwear style.
The shoes were first available on Bodega’s site in limited supply but are now available in larger quantities on Saucony’s site. So, don’t feel bad if you missed the drop and your size is all sold out—just hop over to Saucony and try again.
We’ll keep updating the article as the shoes debut on Saucony and get back in stock for Bodega, so stay tuned.
