When the weather is still making that transition from spring to summer—you know, that time of year that A muscle tank silhouette means more coverage in the back?—finding the right top that provides equal parts coverage and ventilation is imperative.

Inspired by Olympian and World Champ—now ultrarunner—Kara Goucher, Oiselle’s Kara Tank is designed for just that period, and after. The top is made of a new fabric that will draw out the heat and allow the cool breeze to sweep through.

What to Know About Running in the Heat.

Holey Plya Knit, Batman!

Instead of a racerback, the Kara has a muscle tank silhouette without the skintight-fit. It rests on your body like a basketball jersey. The bottom opening is wide, but not so wide that it’s billowy and flappy. The plya knit and lycra material feels cool and soft to the touch, and at 24 inches in length (size 4), it moves like fluid as you run.

This silky tank ventilates all-over thanks to the Plya Knit Hole Punch fabric (kind of like Galen Rupp’s racing singlet—but, well, nicer). I’ve run in the Kara under overcast and cloudless skies, when it feels CA Notice at Collection. The tank beats the humidity without holding in sweat, and allows the wind to pass through and cool me down.

Wear Without Worry

I used to have a “no running tank policy” after high school. I hated tight-fitting singlets and the way some tops would ride up revealing my midsection. The Kara Tank doesn’t check any of these boxes; it would have saved me from all those summers of running with rings of sweat around my neck and under my arms. The slight A-line design also looks pretty nice on—if you can spot me as I fly by, wearing the tank in “fast pink.”
