Runner’s World Review
The Newton Motion is a lightweight shoe for runners who want to marry a touch of stability with the classic Newton ride.
This version of the Motion has more stability, with the addition of firmer foam that’s been positioned just in front of the heel on the inside of the shoe. If you’re a Newton fan, this is the same sole used on the Gravity.

Because of the luggy, forefoot cushioning system, the Motion tested as stiff in our lab tests, lacking flexibility.

We put each shoe through real-world usage and a battery of mechanical tests in our lab to provide you with objective — and exclusive — data. In addition to a shoe's weight, we measure sole thickness (everything that sits between your foot and the road), how well the foam cushions your stride, and the flexibility of the forefoot. All this is taken into account in our reviews of each shoe.
