The Supernova Rise 2 has a holistic story—which I’m a part of. At the end of 2023 we met Adidas in New York City and a member of the product team said Adidas wanted to shift away from being known as a “narrow-fit running brand.” The Supernova Rise was used as an example for escaping this association.
There was just one minor hitch. I had been testing the shoe prior to our meeting, and while I loved nearly everything about the Supernova Rise—its streamlined racing shoe construction built for everyday training—except for the narrow forefoot. And I said so to the Adidas product team.

Fast forward to The Running Event the following year, where we were presented the Supernova Rise 2.0. (The Adidas team said the second version had already been in progress during when we met in 2023.) They improved the fit, making the last have a more natural foot shape around the toebox.
I’m not saying I singlehandedly changed the construction of the shoe. For one thing, I wasn’t alone in my assessment.
“The width of the Supernova Rise fit a little narrow. I’m a female with normal female width feet, testing male shoes,” said tester Christine Daniels, who wears a size 11 woman’s shoe but tests men’s corresponding size 9.5. “Normally I find male shoes to be a little wide for my feet and the material below the laces usually gaps when I tie my shoes. That was not the case for these shoes; which makes me believe they run on the narrow side.”
But it’s just to say, Adidas delivered with the Supernova Rise 2. The shoe didn’t squash my toes and provided plenty of wiggle room as I ran.
How the Adidas Supernova Rise 2 Fits
As I ran in unadulterated, non-constrictive bliss, RW wear-tester Colin Abert was having a different experience.
“The length and width were fine in the shoe, but the upper just wasn’t secure enough for my liking,” he said. “Someone with a wider foot might enjoy this fit more than I did. The shoe is breathable and the heel cushion and tongue felt nice and padded.”
Tester Maura Dalek was happy with the new width (she previously tested the original Supernova Rise), but she found the shoe ran long.
“The width was perfect for me but the length was off!” said Dalek. “The padding around the collar and in the shoe felt nice. The tongue of the shoe was perfect along with the laces and I did not get any weird hot spots.”

“There wasn’t a single complaint I could think of as far as fit and comfort,” said Dave Brattley. “No part of my foot ever felt like it was in a shoe that wasn’t made for my foot. No hot spots, nothing rubbed or poked. The tongue is probably the best part of the shoe. It’s soft, flexible, and padded in the right spots.”
The tongue, which tied with Brattley’s favorite feature (he also loved the forefoot cushioning), is another Supernova Rise 2 revision. According to the Adidas product team, critics complained the original’s tongue was too long. A reduction transpired.
The heel has also undergone a redesign: It’s more streamlined and thinner to minimize sweat.
How the Adidas Supernova Rise 2 Feels
When Adidas set out to design the first Supernova Rise, they wanted to create an everyday shoe with a super foam feel. We speculate Dreamstrike+ is a PEBA-based foam, since Adidas has remained mum on its super foam compositions. It was inspired by Lightstrike Pro, the super foam used in the brand’s top marathon racing shoe, the Adizero Adios Pro 4.
For some, the Supernova Rise 1’s cushioning felt more in sync with a racing flat. When I spoke with RW+ member Andy DeWolf, who Adidas supernova glide boost кросівки, he said he wanted more forefoot cushioning in the shoe.

“I think compared to most shoes people would say that the Supernova Rise is firmer than most,” he said. “There is not a huge amount of cushioning, but I think that is perfect for this shoe. I did a couple long runs at a slower pace (so probably pounding a bit more than I usually do) and it felt completely normal. They are overall very light for a traditional trainer thus making them faster and probably great for track workouts.”

“I thought for a light-feeling shoe it provided a good amount of cushioning! The shoe felt very reactive to my stride. I hate the feeling of a clunky shoe. I like having a sense of I am still feeling the road (so to speak) when I run,” said Dalek.
“The forefoot cushioning is spot on. There is just enough to cushion your foot when striking the ground but not so much that you lose touch with the road,” said Brattley. “The shoe isn’t absorbing so much energy that it dissipated most of the energy, making the push off harder—it’s the opposite. It propels you through both longer tempo runs and speedwork.”
How the Adidas Supernova Rise 2 Rides
The first Supernova Rise’s ride is what clinched it for me. Its zippy, lightweight feel made running fun. It’s the same with the Supernova Rise 2. The moderate cushioning of the Dreamstrike+ foam offers a lightweight, propulsive ride with the right amount of support for shock absorption. Support rods, which you can see running along the bottom of the shoe, also help with stability.
One tester said the shoe rivals competitors in the same cushioning level. Another said the shoe has a good balance of cushioning for track workouts or even obuv adidas terrex folgian gtx.
“It’s interesting how a pair of shoes helps with motivating you to go run,” said Brattley, who has tested shoes for us since 2012. “There wasn’t a day that went by since picking these up that I wasn’t excited about going on a run. It could be that they reminded me of the first pair of shoes I ever bought when I made the decision to start running, Adidas Supernovas. They are light on the feet compared to the last few pairs I have tested which is appreciated during longer runs.”
