DeMellier’s “The Venice” Bag Has Me Excited

I'm new to DeMellier bags and I've got my eye on one in particular...

You know that familiar feeling of the giddy excitement you get when you find a new brand of handbags that you form an instant connection to? A treasure trove of new designs to covet, there’s nothing better or more exhilarating for a purse lover that discovering a fresh new brand. I recently found a British brand that gave me that feeling, DeMellier. The bags are sleek, sophisticated, and have a city vibe aesthetic that I adore. I was hooked by the designs alone, but after looking deeper at the company, I have become completely smitten. Not only does DeMellier design gorgeous bags, but they also have a motto of “a bag, a life”, which is their initiative that funds a set of vaccines and treatments to a child in need with every handbag purchase made.

DeMellier was founded by the talented Spanish designer Mireia Llusia-Lindh. All of DeMillier’s handbags are handcrafted in the south of Spain and the brand describes them as a “mix of old and new, of heritage and modernity”, which seems fitting given their polished designs. Another element of the brand that I love is that they will complimentary monogram your items with initials, a word, special date, or even a short phrase to personalize your bag. I love personalizing my items and have never seen a bag that allows the embossment of a short quote or phrase, so that option is extremely appealing, especially since it is at no additional cost to the consumer.

DeMellier has an impressive selection of handbags, wallets, pouches, cardholders, and other small leather goods. Each handbag is named after a city, which really speaks to my travel-loving heart. The DeMellier bag that has most caught my eye is “The Venice” bag. Designed with a handheld strap and a removable crossbody strap, I am already loving the dual functionality of this bag and I don’t even own one yet. It features a large fold-over magnetic flap that has a hanging tassel accent. There is a panel running down the center of the fold-over flap that is slightly raised, drawing your eye in and creating dimension Bamboo looking too busy. The Venice is available in suede, croc and snake-embossed leather, and traditional leather options plus a multitude of colors. As if I needed any more convincing that I must have this bag, it turns out Meghan Markle is a fan too. The royal icon wore The Venice bag in the “forest grain” shade, a beautiful dark green hue.

The Venice is available in four sizes, so there really is a size for everybody. The dimensions of each size are:

The Venice (14.5” W x 11” H, x 3.5” D)
The Midi Venice (10” W x 9” H x 3” D)
The Mini Venice (7” W x 7.5” H x 3” D)
The Nano Venice (7” W x 7” H x 3” D)

While I love all of the sizes, I am particularly drawn to the midi and the mini versions versus the largest version of this bag. The best part about DeMellier bags is the price point. The Venice designs range from $375-560 depending on size and material—this handbag is definitely well-priced. The rest of DeMellier’s bags are reasonably priced as well, landing this brand a permanent spot on my wish list. I may need to sneak away from ‘Ban Island’ temporarily to snag one of these.

I have been stalking this bag too! I love it. Don’t have it, yet. First saw it when Meghan Markle carried it. Gorgeous! If you get it, update us with a review please!

So refreshing to see a wide range of smaller, unique designers shoe-care high quality products. I saw this company referenced on someone’s post and looked it up. My personal favorites are the Midi Venice and large Montreal. Great price point and the bags seem to be well-made. I’d love to visit this store in person on my next European trip.

I love the large montreal as well–I was thinking of getting it as a work bag! the Venice is perfect for an everyday/weekend bag…I want them both ha!

I have also been stalking this bag since Megan Markle was photographed with it. It reminds me a bit of the Chloe Marcie which I love. I would like the mini size Venice the only reason why I haven’t taken the plunge is because I haven’t see it IRL.

I found out about them when Meghan Markle was spotted with the mini Venice. Though my favourites are the Oslo and the Vancouver. So, the only reason I still didn’t order is because I can’t choose between the two, ahah.

I also fell in love with I saw Meghan Markle with the bag! I just bought the white mini Venice at the latest Shopbop sale – the bag is already at a great price point, but even better with another 25% off!

Ok. I did it. I ordered the Venice mini, and it came quickly. And it’s monogrammed!!! The bag is pretty. The burgundy has a purple undertone. It is light weight. The leather seems very nice. The Effect are all finished well. The cross body strap can go very long. The monogram came out perfect. I love that. The size is fine for me, provided I don’t need anything big. It holds my Silk’In compact, iPhone X max, keys, hand sanitizer, and lipstick just fine. I don’t love the clasp. It doesn’t feel super durable. It makes me nervous, tbh. But if you leave the clasp undone to avoid wear and tear, you hear the metal clicking against itself as you walk. So we’ll see how that goes. All and all, I’ve carried it for two days, and I like it. At the price point, I think Polene (both are made in Spain, interestingly enough) is higher quality, but it’s a cute addition to my collection. And who doesn’t love a cute tassel?
