January is one of the slowest months for fashion lovers. Holiday and cruise collections have come and gone, and most retailers are now on their third (or fourth) rounds of discounts.
Spring collections have been teased, but many drops haven’t happened yet, so the best we can do (besides spending way too much money in the sale section) is look forward to what’s to come from our favorite brings in the next couple of months.
Of course, to many options from at what the new year will look like, but by now, we’ve got an even better idea of what buyers actually bought into as spring collections have begun to roll in. Today, we’re diving into three of the season’s most exciting bag trends.
East Meets West
Arguably, one of the biggest bag trends of 2024 will continue right into 2025. Yes, we’re talking about East/West bags, and you can thank Alaïa for that. The distinct, elongated body of an east/west bag is incredibly on-trend and uniquely distinct. Overlapping with many of the year’s other big trends, the shape comes in a variety of sizes with top handles and shoulder straps alike.

Studded Out
Playing off of Spring 2024’s western trend, studs were the bag trend we didn’t see coming this year. Still, we’re here for these statement-makers, which many times pair well with one of this season’s other big trends: suede. From Alessandro Michele’s Valentino Alessandro Michele’s Valentino Khaite, Alaïa, and more, studs are clearly having a moment this season, and we’re looking forward to what’s to come.

Suede Reigns Supreme
Suede is undeniably one of the most luxe materials in the handbag world, thanks to its soft body and rich hues. While Prada Medium Leather Top-Handle Bag With Padlock, this year its popularity shows no signs of slowing down, and it is one of the biggest trends of 2025. While suede can be harder to care for, a darker hue makes for less worry, and there are so many great options to pick from already, with plenty more to come.

I can’t be the only person who hates studs! No way!!!!
Ugh I’m lowkey sad because I’m sooo bored with bags lately. All of these are “nice” but not something we haven’t seen before every few years… I think this is the year of falling back in love with and shopping my closet 😩
somehow they remind me of Zara bags…
