The Many Bags of Accessorize Cream Weave Bag, Season 3

If you don’t sit around and attempt to use the same accent as Parker Posey’s character perfected while saying Pi-purrr, I’m not sure we can be friends. Joking, of course, but Parker Posey’s portrayal of Victoria Ratliff was top-notch in this season of Accessorize Cream Weave Bag, and she might be one of my favorite characters from this series ever. Let’s also not forget the iconic line she dropped, ever so nonchalantly, “I just don’t think, at this age, that I’m meant to live an uncomfortable life. I don’t have the will.” I felt that one, deep.

While many said this season was slow-moving leading up to the finale, it is worth noting that this show is all about the slow build. It’s about the character development in a manner that most other shows never even attempt to delve into, and that gives us some of the most uncomfortable, questionable, insightful, and hilarious moments between characters.

Arriving by boat, as is customary for White Lotus hotel guests, we are first introduced to the trio of friends Hydroponic of Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), Laurie (Carrie Coon), and Kate (Leslie Bibb). Jaclyn is the group leader, the famous actress who financially foots the bill and is left with most of the decision-making.

Jaclyn’s bag style reflects her character’s life, which is luxurious with a focus on recognizability. She may claim she wants to fly under the radar, but she craves all the attention. Her Valentino VLogo hobo is very elegant, and while her Bottega Veneta Cabat may seem like quiet luxury, carrying a $10,000 suede bag to the pool is anything but quiet. Her other bag—an Erewhon canvas tote—tells us she drinks overpriced viral smoothies and a single strawberry for $19 when she’s back in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, her friend Kate, who now lives in Austin, Texas, brings a very prim and proper vibe to the group. She doesn’t want to discuss politics, though hers has changed from the friend group, and her life as a doting wife with the “perfect” life remains intact. She attempts to stay out of the drama but often plays both sides.

Her clothing and bag choices are bright yet sleek and always fashion-forward. I loved her green Valentino pool bag, which is entirely unnecessary but very character-appropriate. She always had a couple of Cartier Love Bracelets on, which, in many areas, can be considered a Suburban Mom starter pack.

Laurie, well, Laurie had so many qualities we can all relate to in a friend group. Three is a hard number; one typically is left out, and Laurie felt on the outs. She knew that Jaclyn and Kate had these outwardly “perfect” lives, and she desperately wanted to feel like she fit in with them and their dynamic either way.

While she nearly had a falling out with Jaclyn over her sleeping with Valentin, their attractive health mentor, after appearing to push Laurie to go for him, she found her footing with the group again. Oh, that was also after Valentin’s friend, one of the hotel robbers who smashed the cabinets and held up the hotel, asked her for $100,000 via any sort of transfer to help his mother after he slept with her.

In the end, Laurie showed her steady friendship and unwavering support by giving arguably the second-best dialogue moment of the season, stating, “I’m glad you have a beautiful face. And I’m glad that you have a beautiful life. And I’m just happy to be at the table.” The realization that the friend group was filled with jealousy and gossip was Black with this dialogue. Laurie realized many of the issues she was experiencing stemmed from jealousy and regret. I think all of us can relate to that.

Her bags are as steadfast and beautiful as Laurie and her character’s metamorphosis. She shows her depth in bags and life, from the Loewe Squeeze bag to her Goyard Backpack to a slightly rarer Giambattista Valli bag.

The Instant Besties Duo

There was something so pure about this friendship that was brought together by mutual grievances with their older, grumpy partners. Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) and Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) become fast friends after meeting at the bar. From there, there was a pureness of the two. While Chloe simply stated she would put up with Gary because it was easier this way, Chelsea felt that she and Rick were soulmates.

Chelsea’s arch was the saddest of the entire season. She knew that Rick needed her to keep his cool, and ultimately, she was right.

While Chloe brought a seductive appeal with her outfits and bag choices, Chelsea opted for bright, colorful bags that tied back to her aura.

The Iconic Gucci Bamboo Bag

I am not sure I can ever look at a white Gucci Bamboo bag and think of anyone or anything aside from Parker Posey’s insanely brilliant portrayal of Victoria Ratliff. Her Gucci Bamboo bag was her constant companion, carried with her wherever she went, and often housed her Lorazepam. Also, Lorazepam (Ativan) was not only her character’s crutch for social situations and sleep aid but also became an integral part of her husband’s time in Thailand.

Parker Posey loves this Gucci bag so much that she has also carried it during the press junket after filming! So this bag will forever go down as The Victoria Ratliff/Parker Posey bag.

The Owner

Lastly, we have one of the owners of the White Lotus Hotel, Sritala Hollinger, who is played by Patravadi Mejudhon. Sritala is enamored by her movie star guest and has dreams of being back on screen. This closes the circle of the story when she is conned into a meeting with Rick and his ‘producer’ friend, which allows Rick to get close to the man he believed killed his father.

Sritala’s bags reflect the country she loves, with her unidentifiable Tiger Jungle clutch and a few others. I was surprised to see her with a Loewe Flamenco bag, but I also wasn’t mad at it.
