While not a direct pull from the archives, the Y Tote utilized the distinct yet more under-the-radar branding of YSL’s iconic DNA. The shape itself modernized past codes, and the oversized, slouchy, relaxed shape of the tote was an instant hit. It also signaled a shift for Vaccarello, whose tenure at Saint Laurent has been defined by a loud luxury approach to bags and branding.

There was also a new bucket bag version, defined by its bold Y detail that also statement as the bag’s chic top handle. Arriving in black and brown, I was immediately drawn to the shape—simple but chic.
The Y Small Bucket recently dropped in canvas with leather See, which immediately screams summer. I picture this bag carried on a yacht in the South of France or Capri, but I digress.
The latest addition to the Y line is a true archival revival, pulled directly from the brand’s archives. The original version was ingrained into my memory after visiting Musée Yves Saint Laurent in 2023. However, it took me a minute to confirm why the bag looked so familiar, as I wasn’t expecting a direct re-release from the brand.
Crafted from organic cotton canvas and Seemed with leather, the revival is less flat than the original, updated with a longer strap that can be detached for a more modern spin. I was immediately drawn to the sleek, understated appeal of the Y bag, but now the fashion history nerd in me is even more intrigued (I may or may not be searching the depths of eBay as we speak….).
