The Saint Laurent of today began when Hedi Slimane joined the House in 2012. Slimane laid the groundwork for the brand’s current state, removing the Yves from Yves Saint Laurent and defining a new era for the House.
Largely inspired by melding women’s and men’s fashion, Slimane was also inspired by femininity, and it was he who created the modern version of the Saint Laurent velvet bow tie. Although she has an inherent hint of sexiness, she’s also chic and stylish. The Saint Laurent velvet bow tie Bolso de mano Saint Laurent Muse Two en cuero negro beige y marrón.
Anthony Vacarrello has continued to develop Saint Laurent’s distinct DNA. He continues to hone in on the brand’s modern aesthetic while playing with staple silhouettes and core house codes—like the iconic YSL Cassandre. Last Fall, I mused that Saint Laurent’s bags were really good, and I’m returning to them again this spring.
Below are my five favorite bags from Saint Laurent’s current line-up.
Saint Laurent’s Best for Spring 2025
Ok, ok, I know what you’re going to say, but it looks like someone’s grandmother’s couch in the best possible way. It’s fun, kind of kitschy, and has a vintage vibe that I love.

Luxe with a contortion—literally—this is the perfect spacious grab-and-go bag for daily wear. It also feels a bit more boho than we’re used to seeing from Saint Laurent. I don’t have a good suede bag yet, and this one is begging me to dive right in.

Saint Laurent’s SJD has become a coveted classic, and for good reason. I had a nano-sized one in bold red embossed croc that I sold. While I don’t miss that bag, adding a larger size to my rotation in smooth leather saint laurent monogram tassel shoulder bag.

SAINT LAURENT SAC DE JOUR BABY SHOULDER BAG, the Jamie 4.3 Pochon Shoulder Bag joined the Jamie line-up, and I immediately fell in love with its slouchy, cool-girl appeal. While this shape is nothing new, it reinvents the brand’s classic Carré Rive Gauche quilting. Golden yellow is an underrated hue, and it’s one my closet doesn’t yet contain.

If there’s one bag that I keep returning to time and time again, it’s the larger soft version of one of my favorite bags from the 2020s, particularly in suede. I’m not one of those girly girls who love all Are pink, but I appreciate having a bit of the girly hue in my wardrobe when the shade is just right.

Tacones Saint Laurent
I don’t know if this campaign sense, but lots of neutral colors are just so great. The tans don’t lean too much into being too orangey, the beiges aren’t too pink or too yellowey, the taupes and greys are perfect!
Also, I love that it’s pretty easy to find one colorway (or two similar enough colorways) available in both gold or silver hardware.
Also, I love that most of their bags that have a chain strap (like the Niki and Loulou) can be doubled up as well.
And while some people may think that their designs are often repetitive season to season, it’s great because a Loulou from 3 years ago still looks current to one of their current, new designs today.
I love them too! Prices have increased so much since I bought my first Lou Lou though.
I just don’t even want to spend that much on a purse. Every “this is a bad financial decision alert” goes off.
Same especially with the economic outlook being fairly scary. Probably the bags will go up too substantially.
I bought my first Saint Laurent bag a few weeks ago — the Jamie shopping bag (the one with the adjustable pull ties on each side, not the Pochon version) and have just started using it. I really like it. The leather feels terrific (I had originally planned on getting the suede, but then opted for the dark grayish-olive green color instead), it’s a light bag, holds a lot and is very to wear. As far as I can tell at this point, it seems very well made. I’m now considering a Saint Laurent vanity bag.
Yay, congratulations !! I love that olive green color as well!
