Still, collection bags aside, designers drop dozens of other new bags that never make it to the runway, meaning that it’s only truly when bags start to hit stores that we can get an all-encompassing view of what’s going to be big each season. We recently gave you a look at Chanel’s Pre-Spring 2025 bags, which included an array of its icons, including Classic Flaps with bold, contrasting stitching.
Valentino Studded Tote G engraved-logo laptop bag at Paris Fashion Week, debuting an edgy collection of bags and more. That edginess included House icons like the Wander, and the Beau bag outfitted in neutral hues with stark white piping.
Contrast Bags Hit the Runway at Hermès, Too
At Hermès this year, fringe detail backpack, with bags echoing the more casual sentiment. Hermès did contrast in a less overt way, instead opting to play with the color of its stitching on bags like the JPG Birkin and Kelly.
While contrast piping is nothing new, it’s often utilized to trim leather on canvas or other fabric bags, similar to the construction of Louis Vuitton’s Monogram canvas bags. Still, the bold trimmings we’re seeing at Chanel and Miu Miu are reminiscent of past bags like the Dior Vibe or Gucci’s Marmont bags from Cruise 2020.
As we dive further into the Spring 2025 season, we’ll see if it’s just two’s company or three’s a trend. Until then, we’ve got time to decide if this is a potential trend we’d like to try. Thoughts?
