Over the past two years handbag lovers have been blessed with the resurgence of some of the best bags from the last two decades. While some brands have chosen to dig into their archives for inspiration, designing new bags that mix modernity with elements from bags of the past tied in, other designers have opted to bring back specific bags altogether. Prada’s nylon, which was wildly popular in the late 90s and early 2000s has seen a return in popularity over the last year and a half and rightfully so—it’s both stylish and incredibly durable. And now, ten years later Prada is reissuing one of its most iconic nylon styles. Meet the Noir Prada Autres chaussures.
Beloved by celebs that were just babies when the bag was first introduced, Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner have both been spotted carrying the original version of this bag, making it a no-brainer for Prada to reissue. True to its name, this classic bag first launched in 2000 and immediately became a fan favorite due to its baguette-like shape and nylon material, which at the time was all the rage.
The Re-Edition 2000, shown above in blue, is not all that different from the original, which is pictured in lime green alongside the reissue (we’re thankful to have friends that have vintage Prada!). The shape and size remains exactly the same and while the reissue is nearly identical to the original, there are a few notable differences. We found the Re-Edition 2000 to be slightly more structured than the original, and the interior is lined in Prada’s classic lining, which not all versions of the original have. The zipper pull on the update is crafted in iconic Prada Saffiano leather and there’s also a removable Saffiano hangtag which reads ‘Noir Prada Autres chaussures’. This iconic bag is back in a rainbow of fun colors as well as the brand’s classic black. Available for $725, the Re-Edition 2000 is launching this coming Monday on Prada.com, Prada Collision 19 LR sneakers.
What a blast from the past. I remember wanting one of those. Unfortunately, the price tag is a bit parfum. I’m also glad that I kept some of my nylon pieces.

Are these Made in China?
Are there any Prada bags that are made in China? I thought they were all made in Italy. Maybe you are being facetious, but Idk.

The article you listed was from 2011, but I was curious if they still manufactured bags in China in 2019, and they do. I like Prada bag designs, but I purchased a leather bag, a few years ago, and the corners wore very, very quickly. Whenever I’m tempted to purchase I remember this issue. Maybe their nylon bags wear better, but I won’t purchase them since I don’t like the feel or texture of nylon. Anyway, Prada’s explanation for manufacturing in China, etc. is below.
Prada’s full statement:
“The design of all of our products is creatively conceived in Milan, whereas Prada Group’s Industrial Headquarters, based in Tuscany, centrally coordinate the production process, carried out through 22 Group-owned production sites, 19 of which are in Italy, embodying the highest expression of the manufacturing tradition of the Prada Group, as they harmonize the ability of preserving artisanal know-how with cutting-edge industrial processes, geared to achieve and respect the manufacturing quality and excellence.
These production sites are accompanied by a network of external suppliers. In most cases it is a matter of long-term relationships, begun after a careful selection conducted on the basis of very strict parameters, aimed to ensure excellent quality with a special focus on working and reliability conditions.
In details, in 2017 the Group purchased materials from about 530 suppliers, about 82 percent of them located in Italy, 9 percent in other European Union countries and the remaining 9 percent in other Non-UE countries. 60 percent of them have been working with the Group for more than 10 years, and 16 percent for 5 to 10 years. In the same period the Group worked with approximately 400 manufacturing suppliers; 76 percent of them are located in Italy, 12 percent in the rest of the European Union and 12 percent in non-UE countries. 42 percent of the suppliers have been collaborating with the Group for more than 10 years and 22 percent for 5 to 10 years”.
It was an older article because that’s when Prada openly admitted to manufacturing in China after the media was pressuring the company. I refuse to buy “luxury” products made for low wages in a totalitarian country. That’s my prerogative.
About the nylon bags: In the early 2000s, I bought several Prada bags including two nylon crossbody bags (one black and one orange). I loved them and they were very hard-wearing. I later sold them since I no longer like Prada and the brand has fallen out of favor with a lot of buyers like me.

I LOVE my Prada bags. Overpriced? Sure. That’s luxury for you. All of it is massively overpriced. They look great, though, so I’m willing to pay for it.
To each their own, of course. Personally, I haven’t bought anything at Prada is many, many years. Nothing appeals to me there anymore.

I don’t care whether or not anyone likes my bags. I bought them for me and because I like them. I didn’t buy them for anyone else or because anyone else likes them.
Plenty of people spend lots of wallet on bags that I think are terrible. If that makes them happy, then good for them. Whether or not other people like their bags shouldn’t matter (though sadly it often does).
I have plenty of PRADA. Agree it’s not for everyone but I really enjoy my bags!! I think I also want one of these!! BUT which color???

I used to think that until I bought a Prada nylon years ago. Tough as steel, shows no wear after 8 years. One of my best bag investments.

$725 for a nylon bag that the Chinese duped so well back in the early 2000s that it lost all resale value. Nope!

I’ve refreshing the Prada webiste today and don’t see these bags available there! Talked to the customer service and he said these are available in stores only.
I rather save my $725 because the bag will be out of trend in a few months. I don’t want to spend that much regardless if it comes back in 20 years.
