In 2013, Backpack HYPE Badge BAS17138 Navy in JW Anderson’s namesake brand while simultaneously appointing Jonathan Anderson creative director of LOEWE. Anderson had already risen to popularity thanks to his unique view and boundary-breaking menswear collections.
The designer eventually expanded into womenswear, and it only went up from there. Anderson’s unparalleled creativity and renowned aesthetic, which is both innovative and wearable, have continued to foster a community of die-hard fans.
While JW Anderson’s accolades span many categories, he continues to produce handbag hits that, in turn, develop a cult-like following among fashion’s elite. Few contemporary designer bags have generated as much intrigue over the years as Anderson’s unique handbags.
His popularity amongst the fashion crowd becomes especially blatant outside of the shows during the most popular fashion weeks. In recent years, the London-based brand’s Bumper bag ruled the contemporary market, though few can forget the massive moment that Anderson’s cheeky Pierce bag had in the late 2010s.

A New JW Anderson Icon Emerges
With another fashion month on the horizon, we’re taking a better look at JW Anderson’s much-anticipated new House icon. The JW Anderson Loafer bag first garnered the attention of fashion fans when it debuted on the men’s spring 2025 runway.
Then, it was presented again when the designer showed his logo-print laptop bag. The Loafer bag was the one and only handbag shown on the runway that season, proving that spring 2025 was going to be all about the Loafer bag.
The Loafer bag, which features the same whale-tail penny keeper detail that is used on loafers, is sewn by hand on the front of the bag, proving a unique, eye-catching detail that is, for lack of a better phrase, just so freaking cool. The bag’s base is also modeled to mimic the sole of a loafer.
Arriving in two sizes—classic and large, the Loafer bag has arrived in both suede and leather and you can bet that we’ll be seeing a lot more of this bag next month.

That’s just ugly.
In my opinion, this is very beautiful handbag. He is one of the most innovative handbag designer in the luxury handbag market now. This model could be classified as a new model and there has been very few in the last decades for new solution to this specific handbag architecture, rectangular prism, and the earlier one was Puzzle, that was also his design. I like the shape, the movement of the leather type, the details of the marked stitches in the front, no logos. I would need to see the original and is the thin shoulder and handstraps are truly confortable. It is important for me to see if it is easy to open and close. I do not have a Puzzle, even if I admire the design because was very uncomfortable for me to put in and take out my belongings in that very special closure.
It is exciting news about a novelty in the market after years of boring variations in size or small details in most of the models from the big luxury brands. Thanks for informing.
No thanks. I don’t need my handbag to look like an ugly shoe.
I agree it’s beautiful, looks well constructed, somewhere in between structured and slouchy. However, I wonder if the handle will be in the way of the bag opening – if so, that’s a no no for me. Plus the thin crossbody strap is not ergonomic at all.
I think it’s adorable. The contrast stitching is bucket. Practical size with a zipper.
I find it interesting. I love the original loafers with that kind of stitching. I find that original. It is also recognizable without a branding. At the same time classical.
I LOVE JW Anderson’s designs in general. And I just opened my first Loafer bag. Having never seen one in person, I was a little struck by the size, I bought the Tan in the smallest size, mainly because BG was doing an amazing sale.
Besides the size, which I will make work, I noticed, unlike my Corner Bags, it smells like leather and the leather is soft and will smoosch!
It’s fantastically adorable and have already ordered the brown suede as SFA had another sale.
I’m not concerned about the top handle as it’s not as arched as I originally thought, and don’t know if it’s much of a shoulder bag.
The crossbody strap is super thin and not to my liking and I’ll be looking for a thicker strap.
With all the things “wrong” with this bag
… The kitschy cuteness of it outweighs the cons. I will be on the hunt for a Lemonade and a Khaki Suede.
I love it and I think it’s going to be my go-to bag for the summer, as it’s so fun.
BUT…I will be buying them on sale as they do go on sale.
I don’t really know how to edit my post… But after actually trying to put stuff in my new loafer bag, I realized the opening is so very small, you will stretch yourself and the smooth leather is already scratched up on taking it out of the dust bag. Handle is bent. I’m so disappointed and might try to size up to the Medium in Suede, but seriously disappointed.
