The official start to winter may have been just on the horizon when these photos were taken, with temps dropping low into the 30s and even high 20s. Still, the bags out in the wild on the Upper East Side were hot, hot, hot! Last week’s batch was particularly exciting, but still, there’s more for us to share from December on the UES.
While this time of year is busy all over the city, uptown is particularly bustling, with shoppers picking up last-minute gifts and tourists alike checking out popular boutiques on Madison and Fifth Avenues. December means lots of warm outerwear, and while we saw plenty of puffers, this batch of street style also offers inspiration on dressing chic in the cold.

There is a fantastic OpEd by Katharine K. Zarrella in the NYT today titled “Obscene Prices, Declining Quality: Luxury Is in a Death Spiral.” It’s a great read!
NYT piece was good, as were some of the comments. Would love to see more independent designers on PB, in reporter to all the big names we see much more often.
This! I would also appreciate seeing more lesser-known, non-European indie designers featured. They are truly product gems, offering quality that often surpasses that of big brands—at just a fraction of the price.

I buy vintage and only vintage. I have an Evelyne that has gold-plated hardware, looks great (her leather has been though a lot but she’s sturdy).
I don’t know why but I always love seeing people still using their Chloe bag from the Clare Wright era. I was a big fan of her designs and own quite a few. I really should start carrying them again!
Clare Waight Keller’s Chloé is so reminiscent of the Chloé of today! I still have a Drew from that time also!
I carried my Chloe Faye Day for three weeks in November. It’s a great everyday bag. It’s nice to see one in the wild.
Sometimes, I really dislike this blog. Now, I want a Dior Toujours, a Savette, and a Polene!
