LANVIN large Hook shoulder bag!!
All of the other salty butt-hurt commenters are just old snarky women who don’t know how to have fun with fashion any more 😜 AND they try “tOo HaRd” by being “overly plain” and mature with their bags.

You’ve been called out.

Hervé

To each their own. I understand why some people may not like the aesthetic of it. It’s easily messy or busy. Some people prefer a streamline look. Not sure they are “butt-hurt.” They may simply disagree with you. Not everyone needs to be “called out” because they have a different opinion.

*Calling out the “put-down” attitude on what other people enjoy*

Hervé

It just feels like a lack of tolerance for other people’s opinion.

*Lack of tolerance for 💩 opinions *

It’s unfortunate that you choose this path rather than civility. But I guess the anonymity and immediacy of the internet tend to bring the worst out of many of us. Best wishes.

You too, have fun! 🤪

I have loved accessories all my life, so I was blown away when I first saw a bag charm a number of years ago. What could be better than an accessory for an accessory? The idea opened up a whole new avenue for me! There is an amazing array of charm styles. I am not attracted to the cutesy ones. Over the years, I’ve found beautiful, well-made designer charms, and some of them I bought before I ever bought the bag that I’d eventually pair them with. Part of the fun of picking out a bag to wear is taking it to my charm collection and choosing just the right one. It’s like choosing the right jewelry for an outfit. Creativity is expressed though accessories.

Uggghhh I SWEAR I hate to be negative but I’m so over this trend. The thing that made Jane’s bag so awesome was that it was organic. The charms she collected meant something to her and were likely more precious to her than the actual bag. Now people are buying ridiculously expensive charms to put on expensive bags just to make it look like something Jane just did irreverently… *silent screams*

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO BUCKET SHOULDER BAG!

Hermes=👑

Clearly you missed the point, you see, it’s so us wealthy folks can FLEX MORE with designer charms!
(plus minimalism is SO last year) 💅👜

So true. Plus the charms , except for the Gucci dog look cheap. Who has the disposable income to spend on this stuff? I like adding my own personal charms but just one. Seeing these bags go down the runway with huge Christmas tree like ornaments hanging all over them is a bit nauseating

I found this cute little Gucci charm years ago from a thrift shop. It’s just been hanging on a hook on my closet for years. I guess this little pup is finally going public!

Go pup go! Go live your best life. 😂 Pup needs an adventure account we can follow.

I’ve been enjoying my Loewe charms prior to this “trend’ and have added a few small, inexpensive ones that I love recently. I think it’s a fun way to personalize your bag. I do cross the line personally at the popmart ones everyone is going wild for, but if people legitimately like it, then who cares.

Loch

My son crocheted me a Junimo bag charm for Christmas (from Stardew Valley). It’s literally one of a kind and means the world to me. I’m not spending a fortune on charms that cost as much as a decent bag,

BSK

Is that is very cool and as it should be

NShap

I’m not normally a charm fan at all and I have never purchased one but somehow this just feels fun right now, I say go for it if it speaks to you! I did just buy the smaller NYC one from Coach, hopefully arriving tomorrow I’ll test it out on a NYC theme bag I already have. I wear NYC themed Tshirts and love that city with passion- and hope to live there one day! I agree they should have some meaning or if you have kids maybe a little something they made you, I definitely have some bracelets my son made that could be cute hanging with. It’s just fashion, we don’t need to be so serious, have fun and do you!

Kelly

Looks like you’re trying too hard. It looks childish and forced. Hoarder with money. If it’s a trend then you’re already too late.

Carly

I bought the cherry charms from Coach because in Colorado we have the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, typically around July 4th, and cherries are the ad theme. It’s a fun festival with art, music and great food!

Kaly

Now THAT makes sense—you have a charm that MEANS something to you! As a previous commenter said, it should be organic, not just a jumble of overpriced trinkets trying to copy a look.

Jane

Rucsac GUESS Malia Backpack HWGG84 88320 SFP!

SonShownu

Please stop acting like Jane Birkin when you’re not. She honestly like all the charm on her bag, not just buy and slap it into the bag. it honestly weird seeing people do the “Birkin-ify” trend.

Tiffany

I don’t mind the charms — it’s not my thing, but to each their own. I do like the “adorn with meaning” sentiment, however, rather than the “I need to buy a charm to put on my bag because everyone else is doing it.”

Mel

I don’t take umbrage in this trend, I’ve seen it done in a way I like and not. If a trend sparks joy then by all means do it. I’ve collected charms and such through the years, nothing expensive save for one, being a fan of Yayoi Kusama, a pumpkin from her most recent collaboration with Louis Vuitton. For me the keyword will always be EDIT.

Pinksky777

Ok everyone is doing this trend wrong. Just putting cheap little keychains that mean literally nothing personal to you and all you end up with is making your bag look like absolute garbage. Also everyone has the same charms at this point it’s so boring! Try getting some unique ones with character that bring out individualism. I personally love the elder statesman ones because they’re one of a kind hand made.

Kaly

When I sees bags with SO MANY charms it reminds me of elementary schoolers with all their do-dads hanging off their backpacks!

jennyfir

Unless you were gifted or made by hand all your charms, you had to buy them from somewhere. If you buy it from somewhere, someone else (maybe tons of someone elses) has the same one. Same goes, by the way, for all these bags we talk about on here. Spoiler alert, none of us are original in this.

I do sometimes use a key ring charm on my Neverfulls, Goyards, Bals and Bottega bags so I can clip my car keys to be accessible. It’s slightly silly I realize, but it kind of makes me happy to have a charm or two on a bag. It is not always just for fun, because the utilitarian aspect of knowing where my keys are is handy. My daughter has a rhinestone Hello Kitty charm on one of her bags and it never fails to cheer me up. I don’t have a Birkin to channel Jane, but wish I did 🙂

Nancy

I’m thinking of using my gold charm bracelet I never wear on my birkin, as it’s very meaningful to me, and it would get ot of my jewelry box! I could buy a used Hermes gold breloque, but why??

EconomicallySavvy

For those folks who say handbags aren’t investments. I purchased my Prada Nylon mini-pouch a little over a decade ago at $295. $695 now? Wow.
