Ronnie Fieg reprises his partnership with ASICS to create the GEL-KAYANO 12.1, a new silhouette that blends the KAYANO 12 with the NIMBUS 17.

The Ronnie Fieg for ASICS GEL-KAYANO 12.1 is a distinct style that combines the KAYANO 12 upper with the NIMBUS 17 outsole. The GEL-KAYANO 12 is a timeless style designed by the visionary Toshikazu Kayano, while the GEL-NIMBUS 17 is a performance-driven style designed for long-distance marathon running.

The model is crafted with a lightweight mesh upper and features the brand’s classic Tiger stripes at the lateral side. Special design elements are seen on the tongues—with the left featuring Japanese Kanji translating to ‘Kayano’, paying homage to the iconic designer, while the right shoe translates to ‘Friend’, paying homage to the brand’s “Erlebniswelt-fliegenfischenShops and Kin” slogan which means “friends and family”.

The sole unit features a FluidRide midsole with extended rearfoot and forefoot GEL cushioning units that deliver unparalleled comfort and an aggressive, performance-driven Blazing. Fieg has previously utilized this tooling on GEL-LYTE III silhouettes, but this marks the first time in ASICS history that it has been applied to the GEL-KAYANO 12.
