Tomo Ijuin
My name is Tomo Ijuin. I started fly fishing on my 20th birthday, 38 years ago. I love fly-fishing for the Yamame, a Japanese trout. It is an agile fish that lives in strong streams. It is a very beautiful fish that is difficult to catch.
I enjoy fly fishing this jewel of the mountain streams by using a trick cast that I developed independently based on the basics of casting. I teach this special technique and casting as a way to convey the joy of fly fishing. I am a member of the Japan Fly Fishing Association (JFFA). I also actively work with a group dedicated to environmental protection and restoring rivers.
This year, at the EWF, I will show you long leader, long tippet casting, and trick casting developed because of Japan's unique fishing environment. I look forward to seeing you all at the venue. Thanks!!!
