Every golfer needs to have the necessary items in their golf bag in order to play their best. Beyond having a complete set of golf clubs, there are several accessories to be sure to add to your bag before your round! Our Golf Experts share the golf bag accessories you need as well as some tips on how to use them on the course.

Golf Balls

Golf balls are a must-have accessory in your golf bag. There are a lot of factors that go into choosing a golf ball, so as a beginner, it’s a good idea to purchase a few different types and see which one feels and performs the best for you and your swing style. Plus, having a lot of golf balls in your bag isn’t a bad decision as you might lose a few throughout your round.

Expert Tip: Before the round, mark your golf balls with your initials. This helps you easily identify your ball when looking in the rough.

Golf Tees

Be sure to load up your golf bag with plenty of tees as they easily break. Tees help you get the golf ball off the ground and level when hitting from the tee box.

Golf Glove

Next, you’ll want to have a golf glove stored in your bag. You only wear one golf glove in order to prevent blisters and grip the club better. Choosing the right golf glove really comes down to fit and comfort.

Golf Towel

Your golf bag should definitely include a golf towel. This will help you with your grips and golf club clean from any dirt, dust, or mud you might hit during your round.

Golf Divot Tool

When you lob a shot onto the green, sometimes where the ball initially lands will leave a divot. You’ll want to be sure to have a divot tool in your bag to repair any divots you leave so that it doesn’t affect other golfers.

Ball Markers

When you’re on the green, the person who has the farthest putt typically goes first. If you’re in their path to the hole, you’ll want to use a ball marker.

Expert Tip: Simply place the ball marker right behind your ball, press firmly down, and pick up your ball. When it’s your turn to putt, place the ball just ahead of the marker before removing the marker.

Golf Hat

A hat isn’t an essential item to place in your golf bag, but it’s nice to have the option to protect your eyes from the sun and with you cool during a long, hot round.

Water Bottle

Not only is it important to stay hydrated on the golf course, but a water bottle can help you clean your golf balls and clubs if you’re in a pinch.

Golf Rangefinder

A golf rangefinder is a helpful accessory to have in your bag and will allow you to measure distances to the green and obstacles that might be in your way. This is typically an accessory for those who have been golfing for a few seasons.

Orange Whip Swing Trainer

It’s important to warm up before taking your first swing off the tee box and using an Orange Whip Swing Trainer is a great way to do so!

Sunscreen & Bug Spray

There’s nothing worse than walking the course with buzzing mosquitoes or feeling your skin getting a nasty sunburn. It’s a good idea to put a mosquito spray and sunscreen in your bag too!

Rain Jacket & Umbrella

Additional layers of clothing like a rain jacket or quarter-zip pullover is always a good idea because you never know when the weather will turn. It’s not a bad idea to carry an umbrella with you as well, and some golf bags even feature a slot to store them!

Aside from all the above essentials, it’s a good idea to have a pencil too when withing track of your score and a couple of different colored permanent markers for labeling a new golf ball. You may also want to carry a few granola bars or a bag of almonds too. Having the right items in your golf bag is important in order to play your best round of golf so make sure it’s stocked with these golf bag accessories before your next round.
