Should I Get a Traeger Grill?

If you’re looking to master backyard grilling, you might be wondering, what makes a Traeger grill so special? Our Grilling Experts share some features that make Traeger stand out and help you determine if this is the brand for you:

  • Durable construction and innovative technology like WiFIRE®
  • Fueled by pellets to offer enhanced flavor to every meal
  • Digital controller that allows you to smoke low and slow at 160° F or grill hot and fast at up to 500° F
  • A fan to evenly distribute the heat much like a convection oven
  • Versatility to smoke ribs, grill steaks, or even bake cookies

What is WiFIRE® Technology?

Traeger app with WiFIRE technology

WiFIRE® technology allows you to control your Traeger from your phone through the Traeger App. Traeger WiFIRE® technology makes grilling more convenient than ever by allowing you to change the temperature, monitor food temps, and adjust the grill’s settings directly on your smartphone from virtually anywhere. You can even access recipes on the Traeger app or download them to your WiFIRE® controller for a step-by-step guide as you cook.

What Type of Traeger Should I Get?

The type of Traeger you should get all depends on how often you plan to use it and what you want to use it for. The Pro Series is the base model that offers all the essentials while the Ironwood Series is a step up with a few additional features. The Timberline Series is the most decked-out model with technology for all your grilling and smoking preferences!

Pro Series Grills

The Traeger Pro Series is the best-selling Traeger grill. This base model grill has all the Traeger basics like precise temperature control, a built-in meat probe to monitor food, and porcelain-coated grill grates for easy cleanup. Most of these models also come with WiFIRE®  technology so you can control your grill from your phone. The Pro Series comes in two different sizes—575 and 780.

  • Ironwood Series Grills

The Traeger Ironwood Series has everything the Pro Series has plus a few additional features. Ironwood Traegers have a larger pellet hopper and a Super Smoke Mode that adds extra smoke flavor as well as double-side wall insulation for grilling in all seasons. The Ironwood series also has a downdraft exhaust system for improved smoking and true convection. There are four different models to choose from within the Ironwood Series.

    Timberline Series

The Traeger Timberline Series is the top-of-the-line model with a fully insulated design so the weather doesn’t hold you back. In addition to a D2 Direct Drive and WiFIRE® technology, the Timberline also has stainless-steel grill grates for better searing and easy cleanup. One of the best benefits of this grill is the internal grease management system which traps grease in the bottom of the barrel for easier cleaning. The Timberline Series can also hold more pellets than the Pro and Ironwood Series and has a third cooking rack to hold more food! There are two sizes for this series—the Timberline and the Timberline XL.

  • Flatrock Flat Top Grill

A new option within the Traeger line-up is the Traeger Flatrock Flat Top Grill. Although not a pellet grill, the flat top features 594 square inches of cooking surface, so you’ll be able to easily make breakfast, stir fry, burgers, and more for a crowd. The folding lid offers added wind protection, while the built-in folding shelves provide additional prep space when needed.

  • No matter how you choose to invest in outdoor cooking, you can trust a Traeger grill to provide quality, convenience, and delicious flavor.
