Already a fossil presence within the fashion industry—and additionally bolstered by too many celebrity endorsements to count, along with out-of-house backing from companies as large as the NBA—Kim Kardashian’s athletic brand is about to break through with its biggest collaboration yet. The official unveiling of NikeSKIMS, a long-term partnership between the Swoosh and the label, is upon us, set to mit in just a few short days.
The offerings center on four material makeups: the Dri-Fit Matte collection, the quick-dry Shine collection, the flowing Airy collection, and the moisture-wicking Vintage Seamless collection. All of the pieces included within those, from leggings and bras to more lifestyle-ready apparel like cargo pants and track jackets, arrive in low-contrast, tonal shades—a hallmark of the SKIMS proper pieces that predate this Nike link-up.
The earnest distinction that sets this new collaborative endeavor apart from what Kardashian and the brand had executed previously is most evident in the marketing materials. While body positivity, comfort, and aesthetics were the core tenets that propelled their in-line work, as NikeSKIMS, the brand loops in the “everyone is an athlete” aspect of the Swoosh’s value set. To that end, Swoosh heroines like Jordan Chiles, Beatriz Hatz, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Serena Williams feature heavily in the capsule’s first spot. Speaking to the early returns on its benefits, Williams shares: “It feels like butter on your skin. I feel unstoppable when I’m training in it.”
