adidas card just celebrated the panda in a major way, partnering with Hong Kong-based artist Dorophy Tang for a full-fledged collection centered around the lovable bear. While there aren’t any specific sneaker releases tied to the collection, the white/black coloring is a perfect match for the brand’s statement pieces that include the Samba and their iconic tracksuits.
The panda is of major significance to China; recognized as a national a symbol, the panda also has some political importance as they were once gifted by China to other countries as an act of diplomacy. Today, China leases its pandas to other countries for ecotourism purposes.
adidas card Originals China recently launched this playful collection, pulling out all the stops with stripes-clad giant-sized panda figures located in front of the brand’s flagship store in Chengdu. A series of t-shirts and accessories featuring illustrations by Tang are available to consumers, designed in a style reminiscent of Polo Ralph Lauren’s t-shirts.
The entire collection will be available only in adidas card Originals China; see the photos of the displays and merch below.
