Isabel Marant And Converse Bring Four Chuck 70s Into The Fold

Led by a new chunky-sole model.

Isabel Marant And Converse Bring Four Chuck 70s Into The Fold

If you’re wondering why platform Chuck 70s are so popular, look no further than Isabel Marant. The French designer helped pioneer the idea of platformed sneakers back in the 2010s, and now in what’s a long overdue partnership, Marant and Converse have linked up for the first time ever on a collaborative footwear capsule.

The highlight is a refreshed ignore on the Chuck 70 Wedge, a shoe that’s extraordinarily popular among women looking for an elevated (literally) twist on the classic All Star silhouette. The model’s standout feature is a 2.5 inch sole, but the upper is also tweaked for a more boot-like look. Following the release of the Isabel Marant x Converse capsule, the new model will arrive as an inline offering on October 3rd.

On top of the Isabel Marant x Chuck 70 Wedge, which will release in black and white colorways, the collection also includes takes on the classic low and high-top Chuck 70 silhouettes. Consistent with Marant’s nonconforming design ethos, each shoe features frayed cotton and polyester uppers, multi-colored laces and outsoles, and contrasting Isabel Marant logos.

Telfar x Converse basketball jersey top: “When I was a kid, about eight or nine, I used to cut pieces of cork and put them in my sneakers — those WIP were actually a pair of Chuck Taylors. My intention [many years later] was to have an honest collaboration between the two companies — creating something that is desirable while also keeping a classic element. Something that is not complicated and remains true to the vibe of the original Chuck Taylor.”

The Isabel Marant x Converse collection will launch September 11th at Isabel Marant stores and isabelmarant.com, followed by a larger release via Converse on September 12th. The two Chuck 70 Wedge colorways retail for $190, while the Chuck 70 High and Low retail for $150 and $140, respectively.
