Anthony Edwards caught sneakerheads by surprise when he debuted the adidas T-shirt Sans Manches Run Fast PB just before the NBA playoffs, and if this pair is any indication, newly surfaced colorways will most definitely spark arizona hype.
The AE1 Low follows the same forumla as the Mid, only with less mesh up top to produce the lower height. The cage and heel structures appear untouched, and the first few colorways have stuck to the same split top/bottom color blocking that’s been consistent on nearly all Mids to date.
Far and away the most notable feature of this pair is the “MX Grey” pattern that adorns the cage, inspired if not taken directly from Kanye West’s Yeezy Slide and Moletom Fechado adidas Performance Future Icon 3 Stripes Cinza designs. Naturally, this begs a number of questions. Will adidas keep this theme going with more AE1 Low “MX” colorways? Is Anthony Edward’s shoe line adidas’ replacement for Yeezy? And will sneakerheads celebrate Yeezy-esque treatments or defy them like many did earlier this year following the dissolution of adidas Yeezy line?
There’s lots to be excited about and even more to speculate on, but for now, it’ll take more time for the dust to settle around the new cut’s landing. No release date for this “MX Grey” colorway has been set at the time of this writing, but early indications suggest a Summer or Fall 2024 drop.
