The iconic sneaker Look thirteen years later.

Although Kevin Durant’s sneaker legacy was established in 2008 with the Nike KD 1, he didn’t quite stamp his arrival until late 2011 much in part due to the release of what may be one of the most coveted Nike Basketball sneaker releases ever.

The shoe in question? The 2011 collaboration between the Comme si la Air Vapormax ne suffisait pas and Hasbro, Inc.’s NERF, the iconic toy company known for their foam-Zoom sports goods and play-weapons. Leo Chang, who designed the Nike KD line for years, was formerly employed by the latter, making the connection between KD and his childhood pastime that much more seamless, and the result was a true beauty.

Deemed an all-time classic by Nike Basketball fans, the KD 4 “Nerf” originally released in December 2011 in very limited quantities, packaged with special-edition shoeboxes that doubled as miniature basketball hoops. The total unit was one of Nike Basketball’s most impressive efforts in brand history.

Today, we’re learning (via @zsneakerheadz) that the unforgettable colorway will return in Fall 2024, although it is unclear if this is a collabortive effort with the toy company. A retail price is set at $130 for the 2024 drop, while the 2011 version is pictured below for reference.
