Nicole McLaughlin is practically a native of the sneaker industry, as she started her career as a Graphic Design Intern at Reebok. Teased by the designer herself, Nicole McLaughlin’s first joint effort with HOKA is centered around one of the footwear brand’s newest silhouettes: the Mafate Three2. Approaching the shoe in a way not too dissimilar to her Vans Slip-On, McLaughlin has opted to build around the runner’s existing design, which combines elements from the franchise’s second and third installments. Much of this, however, is obscured by a detachable, protective outer shroud, whose mix of canvas and ripstop is layered with colored trims and stitching as well as both “nicolemclaughlin” and “HOKA” branding.
