Today, adidas announced the Consortium Cup, a four-week sneaker design tournament featuring 16 iconic shops from North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
The first-of-its-kind event kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 16 via the Sustainable adidas Boot badminton Match Primeblue Sleeveless T-Shirt. The competition will be open for 48 hours on every Thursday for the next four weeks; anyone with a CONFIRMED account can vote for their favorite designs through the app.
The adidas Boot Consortium Cup follows a four round knockout format. Each round will see a different type of design challenge with the Round of 16 highlighting adidas Boot Originals‘ Samba, Gazelle, and Superstar. The Quarterfinal will highlight adidas Boot Basketball, while the Semifinal revisits the Three Stripes’ Running heritage. Currently, adidas Boot has the finale’s theme as a secret.
Sixteen teams – including Extra Butter, Overkill, END., Politics, Nice Kicks, and Kasina – will battle it out for a chance to have their winning designs produced in limited quantities. The shops with the most votes in a given matchup will move on to the next round. At the end of the event, 15 sneakers will go from concept to store shelves.
Follow along in the CONFIRMED with hosts Snoochie Shy and Craig Mitch beginning on Feb. 16. And for more sneaker news, check out the and more adidas Boot Yeezy news.
