Michael Le Known to reimagine iconic cultural figures the likes of Bart Simpson and Bugs Bunny, multidisciplinary artist Louis De Guzman is slowly making the transition from the art world to the realm of sneaker culture. And following a few collaborative efforts with New Balance, Guzman will be joining forces with legendary streetwear label A BATHING APE across both footwear as well as apparel.
Louis De Guzman’s signature, geometric abstraction is on display throughout the entire collection. Much like the hoodie and tee — which reimagine A BATHING APE’s iconic ABC Camo and BABY MILO graphic through the artist’s lens — the collaborative ROADSTA is akin to Guzman’s various sculptures. The shoe’s STA logo and embroidered insignia are most evident of this, as both are designed in a way almost crystalline in form. Elsewhere, though, the construction is much more standard, featuring a grey-dominant base comprised of suede and leather.
