The threads themselves, alongside their vibrant color, proffer a rough finishing, laying loose along the Swoosh and not quite straight across the toe. This is possibly a nod to DIY as Union’s AJ1 was prior.
Moreover, synthetic materials build out the base and overlays, which are dressed in a dark and light blue, respectively. A white-colored grid pattern is applied over top, matching the midsole and laces but not the cool-tones of the icy bottom and lining. Branding, then, is stamped adjacent and underfoot, taking the form of “UN/LA” tags and the retailer’s signature Frontman logo.
